The 23rd Satchmo Festival was celebrated last month which honored the life and music of Louis Armstrong. Locals know him by his nickname “Satchmo” and he was and still is a legend to New Orleans and the jazz scene. The festival was filled with live performances, speakers, discussions and New Orleans cuisine.
There were two stages with over thirty musical acts that ranged from traditional jazz to marching bands. Some of the well known artists included John Boutte, Tuba Skinny and Charmaine Neville. Restaurants from around New Orleans also served food at the festival including po-boys and sno-balls.
The three day festival is a family fun event that is held each year in honor of Louis Armstrong. The event is sponsored by French Quarter Festivals, Inc. which also sponsors the French Quarter Festival and Christmas New Orleans Style.
