New Orleans has many unique and interesting sites and attractions, and one of these attractions is the streetcar line. In fact, New Orleans has the oldest operating streetcar in the country.
St. Charles Avenue is home to the streetcar line that began in 1834 so that New Orleans could be connected to Carrollton. Nowadays, Carrollton is not a suburb but is part of the city. St. Charles Avenue line currently uses the same streetcars that were used in the 1920s. This is all due to the fact the streetcars are on the National Registry of Historic Places.
Tourists and locals can enjoy an afternoon riding along in the ornate and beautiful streetcars. It is such a popular attraction that you can now see miniature streetcars displayed around New Orleans. These fun and intricate decorated models are a nice touch to the city scenery.
