Time Out magazine chose Mid-City in New Orleans as one the the top ten coolest neighborhoods in the country. Over twelve thousand of us out there agree with their findings. Mid-City was named No. 7 on Time Out’s list of 40 coolest neighborhoods in the world and is the top of six neighborhoods in the U.S. to make the list. Things that they looked at were the area’s food, culture and festivals.
Mid-City is home to Jazz Fest and Bayou Boogaloo which are two well-known festivals that people come to from all over. Jazz Fest will bring around 500,000 patrons to Mid-City. Jazz Fest is a seven-day festival held at the Fair Grounds. Bayou Boogaloo which is held along Bayou St. John is now on land and in water where patrons enjoy live music, arts and crafts.
A perfect neighborhood for living close to the the French Quarter without all of the noise and hubbub. It sits between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain. The neighborhood is a diverse area that has grown considerably in the past decade. It is around 10 minutes from Downtown and Uptown New Orleans. It is one of the youngest of the historical areas in the city to be developed.
“While most of these neighborhoods have experienced a transformation over recent years, they remain resolutely local at heart,” the Time Out says. “The world’s coolest neighbourhoods this year are, therefore, places with big personalities.”
