Tipitina’s has been hosting free concerts every Friday during the summer which ended the first day of Sept. Patrons for the show did have to be 21 or over to enter. The shows started at 9 pm each Friday and the doors opened to patrons at 8 pm.
The general admissions shows were popular and featured many local artists. These artists included Water See and Le Trainiump, Dave Jordan and the Neighborhood Improvement Association and Zoomst, Good Enough for Good Times and All That, The Quickening and Steve Kelly, New Orleans Suspects and Renee Gros, Tony Hall and Friends and Deltaphonic, Papa Mali’s Brand New Bag and Very Cherry, The Soul Project FUAS and The New Orleans Johnnys, Soul Brass Band and Same Price and the True Believers, Brass-A-holics and Noah Young Band, Honey Island Swamp Band and Strange Roux, Billy Iuso and Vegas Cola, Raw Deal Presents A Tribute to Earth, Wind & Fire featuring Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph and Zita and the Naughty Professor and Daria and the Hip Drops.
Tipitina’s opened its doors in January of 1977 and was named after the song Tipitina by Professor Longhair. In 2018 the bar was bought by members of the New Orleans-based band Galactic. It is a well-known venue and brand in New Orleans.
