What Grills Is Right for You Propane or Natural Gas?

The most important aspect of which to use, natural gas or propane, all depends on a matter of personal preference. Just like the different sauces, temperature settings, cook times and choice of meat it is all a personal choice. There is no difference when grilling with gas (NG) or propane (LP)as both of these are clean fuel sources and supply quick high heat for your BBQing.

Even though both are great, there are some different situations where one might work over the other. Remember, you cannot use natural gas with a propane grill or propane gas with a natural gas grill. The reason for this is that the gas openings are different sizes for natural gas and for propane gas. Here are some characteristics that separate natural gas from propane gas.

Natural gas has the advantage of running through the home like your water or electricity. If you already have gas running to your home, then this would be your best choice. When purchasing a natural gas grill, the unit should come with a kit that helps in hooking up the grill to the gas line. Natural gas is a cheaper option and will never run out in the middle of cooking your steak! On the flip side, if you do not have a gas line running to your home, it can be expensive to install a gas line to your home and destroy your backyard by laying new lines.

Remember natural gas will save you money in the long run and is one of the most eco-friendliest fuel sources on the market. If you do have natural gas and natural gas appliances, you will never have to worry when you lose electricity.

Liquid propane is nice because you can move your grill around. LP gas comes in small tanks that can sit beside or inside your grill. When you run out of propane, you can take your tank to a store that sells grills and purchase a refill. You will need a hose and regulator which will supply the gas to your grill.

Remember both products are great for using and cooking meals to perfection. It is really your personal preference when it comes to which fits your lifestyle.

The Different Types of Fire Glass

Everyone loves to sit around a fire. If you want a more contemporary fire, fire glass does the trick. One of the first companies to offer fire glass is American Fire Glass. There are many types of fire glass that are approved gas fire features. Here are several different types to choose from.

Classic Fire Glass

This fire glass can be used in fireplaces and firepits both indoors and outdoors. It is not only used for fires but can also be used in landscaping, aquariums, and art projects. This type of fire glass has a jagged crystal look that can be used in almost any design. Classic fire glass comes in both 1/4″ and 1/2″ in a wide variety of colors.

Reflective Fire Glass

This is a perfect look if you want to amplify the intensity of the fire. This fire glass does this because of its polished surface. The polished surface reflects the light from the fire. Reflective fire glass can also be used during the day as it can reflect the sun.

Firebeads

These are smooth rounded shapes with a uniform look. These also give a great contemporary look. The luster finish of this type of fire glass gives a polished and reflective look. They are available in standard colors.

Recycled Fire Glass

This type of fire glass is created by using recycled glass and refiring it. The same process is used as with other types of fire glass so that it gives off the same quality look. This type of glass comes in either a 1/2″ or 3/4″ and in many vibrant colors.

Zircon Fire Glass

This type of fire glass is named after its crystalline shape. This type of fire glass gives off a great multi-faceted shine. This fire glass looks like a diamond or a water droplet.

Choosing a type of fire glass is just the first step in the process. Once you figure out which type, you then need to choose a color and size. Remember the size can make a difference in how your fire feature performs.
